The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a public viewing of recovered stolen property this weekend in an attempt to return items to their rightful owners.
The Recovered Stolen Property Viewing will be held on Feb.3 from 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. and on Feb.4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Investigations, Crime Lab, Property and Evidence (ICP) Building, located at 5590 Overland Avenue, Kerney Mesa.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the items range from electronics, tools, and other household items that were stolen from storage units and construction sites in Encinitas, Jamul, and Alpine. The stolen items were recovered in early November 2022 and have an estimated value of around $250,000.
Those attending the viewing will need to provide one of the following to claim their property: Sheriff’s Case Number, prove their name is on the list, and a receipt with the item’s serial number.
If the individual did not report the stolen item but can prove it belongs to them, a report will be taken. Anyone attending the viewing who believes the stolen item is theirs, but can’t prove it will be instructed to provide a sheriff’s deputy with contact information so they can be contacted after the viewing is over.
Anyone with additional questions are asked to contact Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Oules at (760) 966-3500.
