The San Diego Zoo Safari Park celebrates the arrival of Spring with a Butterfly Jungle Safari to experience wildlife up close, and other activities in the park's open space.
Visitors can witness butterflies up close and wander through Hidden Jungle aviary among hundreds of colorful, fluttering butterflies and even have a chance to feed them from March 19 through May 8. During Spring Safari Featuring Butterfly Jungle, the Safari Park will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tickets are available for $15 per person to explore the Safari Park’s Hidden Jungle aviary. This 20-minute experience includes enrichment to offer the butterflies while you explore the habitat. Guides and wildlife care staff will be available inside the Hidden Jungle aviary to enhance guests' experience throughout their visit
A Mimosa Wildlife Safari will be available on Saturdays and Sundays will be available for adults.
According to Safari Park, the “Butterfly Jungle puts the spotlight on these incredible creatures, bringing attention to the important role they play in ecosystems.”
The park will feature live entertainment from hip-hop dance team the Ladybugs, musical duo the Bluebirds, and adventurer extraordinaire Safari Parker, among a host of others. Strawberry-themed foods and beverages will be available for purchase.
Food and drink choices range from strawberry cream cheese wontons to a peanut butter and strawberry jam bacon burger, to a springtime classic: strawberry lemonade.
The Safari Park’s 1,800 acres are home to vital conservation efforts, with more than 3,600 individual animals from more than 300 species, and a botanical collection of more than 1.75 million plants. The Quino checkerspot butterfly and the Laguna Mountains skipper are two endangered species that have dwindled to a few sparse colonies around San Diego County, largely due to agricultural and urban development.
San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is working to help these populations recover, and guests help support conservation locally and globally through their participation in Spring Safari Featuring Butterfly Jungle.
