Chula Vista police issued citations to seven motorists during a weekend checkpoint for driving without a license or with a suspended license.
The checkpoint was conducted from 6 p.m. Friday to midnight at the 300 Block of East H street, according to CVPD Sgt. Anthony Molina. Thousands traveled through the checkpoint, but nobody was arrested for driving under the influence.
Of the 4,416 vehicles traveling through the checkpoint, 1,468 vehicles were screened and 11 drivers were given field sobriety tests, the sergeant said. Four vehicles were impounded
The charge of driving without a license can be either an infraction or a misdemeanor.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
