A lost Siberian Husky mix was rescued from an oil-filled mechanic’s well inside a private garage in Ramona Tuesday morning and was taken to the Bonita shelter to clean the oil from her fur and provide medical treatment.

San Diego County Animal Services officers rescued 11-year-old Mia, who was trapped inside an oil-filled mechanic’s well, according to officials. The officers reported Mia was trapped in the 10-foot well for more than a day. She was exhausted and weighed down by the oil, according to the report.

The Animal Services team scanned Mia and found a microchip, which allowed them to reach her family. The family said Mia had been missing since Saturday.

Mia is expected to make a full recovery with more care from the owner’s personal veterinarian, according to County Animal Services.
