A 17-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting another teenage boy in National City about two months ago, National City Police announced.
Authorities have not released identifying information about the suspect because he is a juvenile. The suspect was booked into the juvenile hall in connection to the July 20 slaying of 16-year-old Damien Estrada.
Estrada suffered headshot wounds on July 20 at around 9 p.m. at the intersection of East 16th Street and Euclid. According to a GoFundMePage, he was taken to the hospital where he remained on life support until July 28.
Estrada died several days after being taken off life support.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and the relationship between the suspect and Estrada remains unclear.
