A man was arrested at the San Ysidro border crossing on Sunday in connection with a hit-and-run two years ago that killed a 21-year-old woman.
According to San Diego Police Department Lt. Adam Sharki in a news release, police arrested 47-year-old Estavan Fabian Corona at the San Ysidro border crossing after serving an arrest warrant Sunday evening.
Corona was identified by investigators with the SDPD’s traffic division as the suspect for the March 5, 2020 incident, and was arrested on suspicion of felony manslaughter and felony hit and run, according to officials.
According to authorities, Brescia Ayón was crossing Otay Mesa Road in a marked crosswalk when a westbound silver Nissan failed to stop at the stoplight at the Otay Mesa Center, according to police. The victim died at the scene.
The sedan was last seen headed north on Heritage road, police said.
