The Sweetwater Authority launched a new scholarship program this week for local college students interested in careers within the water industry.
Students currently enrolled at the Center for Water Studies at Cuyamaca College, or any other accredited college, community college, or trade can apply for $1,000 scholarships. The Work for Water Scholarship will be granted to two students in October 2022, and is available to anyone living in the Authority’s service area,
“The water sector offers a wide variety of job opportunities in an essential, recession-resistant industry,” said Board Chair Alejandra Sotelo-Solis. “The Board encourages people just joining the workforce or those considering a career change to apply for this exciting scholarship opportunity.”
According to the water authority, students may reapply for the scholarship for a lifetime maximum of $2,000.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 30.
