Today is the 22nd day in the second month of the 2022nd year of the Common Era, and it falls on a Tuesday.

As a palindrome date, Feb. 22, 2022, can be read the same way backward and forward. The ultimate palindrome will occur at 2:22 a.m. or p.m., or at 22:22 military time.

Upon typing 2/22/22 on Google’s search engine and pressing enter, colorful animated confetti, along with a congratulatory “Happy Twosday 2 U” message will appear.

The date is so rare the National Weather Service says a "Twosday" won't happen again for another 400 years, in 2422.

Last year contained a total of 22 palindrome dates, including Jan. 2, 2021, which became the first Inauguration Day to be a palindrome date, according to the Farmer’s Almanac

Jan. 2, 2021 is one  of nine other palindrome dates in January. There were 10 days of five-digit palindromes in a row: 1-20-21; 1-21-21; 1-22-21; 1-23-21; 1-24-21; 1-25-21; 1-26-21; 1-27-21; 1-28-21; and 1-29-21.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, some cultures believe that palindrome dates are lucky. Many people choose these dates for wedding celebrations.

In Sacramento, California, 222 couples will participate in a wedding at the State Capitol. The ceremony starts at 2 p.m. PT and will conclude at precisely 2:22 p.m PT.

Upcoming palindrome dates are February 23 through February 28.
