On Friday, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a vehicle caught fire on Interstate 805 north in National City, and the flames reached roadside vegetation.

The vehicle caught fire as it stopped on the northbound 805 near the Plaza Boulevard exit, just north of Chula Vista, according to CHP.

The fire quickly reached dry brush, so emergency crews arrived to stop the fire from spreading.

According to witnesses, the fire in the vehicle produced some explosions, igniting the nearby brush.

National City firefighters managed to get the fire under control before it spread.

Authorities reported no injuries, and the cause of the vehicle fire is still under investigation.
