The San Diego Wave Fútbol Club has been selected to participate in the 2023 National Women's Soccer League Draft held at the United Coaches Convention in Philidelphia.
The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that the 2023 NWSL Draft is set for Thursday, January 12 at 6 p.m. ET.
According to Wave FC, San Diego Wave Fútbol Club’s most notable college draft acquisition for 2022 was #1 pick Naomi Girma, who went on to win this season’s NWSL Rookie of the Year and Defender of the Year.
Wave FC also drafted midfielder Belle Briede (3rd Round, No. 27), defender Kayla Bruster (4th Round, No. 40), midfielder Sydney Pulver (2nd Round, No. 25) and midfielder Marleen Schimmer (First Round, No. 9).
The NWSL has also opened player registration for the NWSL Draft. Interested players can access the online registration form here.
The NWSL has introduced a new entry mechanism for players under the age of 18 wishing to enter the league. Teams may place eligible players under the age of 18 with the consent of their parent or legal guardian.
