Gas prices in San Diego County are about $1.20 higher than they were a year ago, but if you live in or visit Chula Vista, you can save at least a few bucks by shopping at certain locations around town.
On Monday, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in California is $4.64, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).
The Automobile Club of Southern California reports the average price of regular fuel at $4.62 for San Diego County.
According to GasBuddy fuel deals locator, there are several Chula Vista gas stations where drivers can find gas up to 43 cents a gallon cheaper than the county average.
In Chula Vista, there are three gas stations where gasoline is sold for $4.15, another two where it is sold for $4.18, three more with a price of $4.19, and two more with regular fuel at a sale price of $4.25.
The cheapest gas stations in Chula Vista are concentrated on Broadway and Main Street. Apart from those locations, cheap gasoline is also found in membership stores.
Chula Vista resident Guadalupe Medina said that "the savings seem little, but in the long run it is more important."
"I save about $6 to $7 each time I fill up my compact car, and a full tank usually lasts a little less than a week, so I've been saving around $25 to $30 a month," Medina said.
Medina says that the other way to save gasoline “is to program the routes as much as possible; If I have to go to a place and I take the opportunity to go near a market where I can buy the cheapest food, I save by making a single trip and also on purchases.”
