Authorities arrested a 44-year-old woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man early Thursday Morning at a Motel 6 in National City.
The incident occurred on the corner of L Avenue Near East Plaza Boulevard, a short distance from the Motel 6 in the 1100 block of East Plaza Boulevard, according to the National City Police Department (NCPD). Acting Lt. Ken Springer told OnScene TV that officers responded to a report of a stabbing after 6 A.M.
Patrol officers found the man, whose name has not been released, gravely wounded, and reported he had been stabbed at least once. First aid was administered to the victim by the responding officers, and paramedics transported him to UCSD Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities later identified the assailant as 44-year-old Amalia Samaniego, based on witness accounts and evidence found at the scene, according to an NCPD statement.
Police have not identified the motive behind the slaying. The motel was a part of the crime, according to Springer.
“The Motel 6 is connected… We are trying to learn more about what happened,” he said.
National City police asked anyone with information about the incident to call the department’s Investigation Division at (619) 336-4457.
