A small warming fire created by three transient men early Sunday morning damaged a former Wienerschnitzel restaurant in Chula Vista.
The fire had lost control shortly after midnight, but crews extinguished it before causing major damage to the building. According to authorities, smoke was seen coming from the roof of the building, which is located in the 400 block of Broadway.
The fire was intended to keep the men warm in the early morning hours. Authorities say the three men had broken into the building and were living inside.
The men were not arrested. Police warned future arrests if they came back onto the property.
