A large commercial structure fire broke out on Thursday afternoon that damaged a Chula Vista storage facility.
According to the Chula Vista Fire Department spokesman Capt. Josh Sanders, the fire broke out minutes after 1 p.m. at the Storage Outlet Self Storage facility on Third Avenue near Emerson Street.
The first crews to arrive at the building were met with heavy smoke and flames. An additional crew of fire responders was called to put out the fire. The blaze was completely put out around 2 p.m.
It took crews 55 minutes to extinguish the fire, according to the CVFD.
Authorities have not reported any injuries. Investigators remained on scene for a few hours trying to find the root of the flames, though no immediate information about how many storage units were damaged was made available.
OnScene.TV reported firefighters had accessed or forced entry into at least eight units, with at least two of the units appearing badly damaged.
