The man alleged of killing one and injuring another last month at a Chula Vista bar pleaded not guilty on Dec.15 to murder and attempted murder.

Richard Bernal, 41, was killed and a 17 year old boy was injured around 2 a.m. last month in a shooting outside of On the Rocks Cocktail bar. In Chula Vista Superior Court, Tracy Reasonover, 33, pleaded not guilty to the murder and attempted murder which police say originated from a dispute outside the bar.

According to a statement from the Chula Vista Police Department last month, both victims were found and taken to hospitals where Bernal died and the teen remained in stable condition.

Last week, Reasonover was booked into a local jail according to county jail records. He was found in Springfeild, Illinois 10 days after the shooting where he was originally arrested on suspicion of violating conditions of his parole. Reasonover remained in Illinois pending extradition to San Diego County until he was brought to San Diego.

Reasonover additionally faces charges of assault with a semi-automatic weapon, being a felon in possession, being a felon in possession of a firearm and allegations of using a gun and committing the shooting while out on bail. In January, Reasonover will be sentenced for a felony charge of being a felon in possession of a gun, which he plead guilty.

Multiple life sentences await Reasonover, including a potential 82-year year-to-life sentence if convicted of all of the charges related to Bernal’s death according to the San Diego District Attorney’s office.
