For the holiday season, March and Ash aims to collect and deliver over 1,000 pounds of non-perishable goods to families in need.
In partnership with the San Diego Food Bank, Community Through Hope, and the Imperial Valley Food Bank, In-store and curbside donations will run from December 1st to December 31st, 2021. March and Ash’s Chula Vista and City Heights locations collects for Community Through Hope, a nonprofit organization aimed to tackle food insecurity and to help the unsheltered.
One discount to in-store or curbside purchases will be offered to those making donations and will be limited to one store discount per donation. A donation of five cans or packages of food will provide a 10 percent discount. Individuals will receive a 15 percent discount for donations of 10 cans or packages of food.
March and Ash’s Mission Valley and Vista locations will be collecting goods for the San Diego Food Bank. Their Imperial Valley location will be collecting for the Imperial Valley Food Bank who focuses on providing for families in the Imperial Valley region.
Canned, non-perishable food items such as meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, soups, infant formula and similar items are encouraged for donations. Glass containers, homemade food, opened food, or expired items will not be accepted at the donation drop-off.
March and Ash opened their Chula Vista storefront at 684 Telegraph Canyon Road on Oct. 9, which carries a full line of cannabis products from licensed manufacturers and cultivators state-wide. A receptionist welcomes each customer who must register with March and Ash for any purchases.
Public Affairs Director Spender Andrews Andrews said March and Ash initially hired 28 employees for the Chula Vista location, and all employees will be part of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) local 135 membership.
Their website lists risks associated with cannabis consumption and links to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
