The Chula Vista Police Department School Resource Division is seeking donations for it’s 10th annual Shoe and Sock Drive for youth in the community.
Selected students will be invited to Solo Shoes at 664 Palomar Street to choose new shoes and socks on Nov. 20. In partnership with the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD), South Bay Community Services (SBSC) and the Chula Vista Police Foundation the drive will provide socks and shoes to the youth in need under 18 years of age.
The last Shoe and Sock Drive took place prior to the pandemic on Sept. 21, 2019. Donations to supplement 500 youth were requested by police. The CVPD currently serves 21 middle and high schools, and 44 public schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District in addition to other charter schools.
CVPD SRO's work closely with school nurses and principals, as well as counselors to identify the needs of youth who live, go to school or attend counseling services in Chula Vista.
