The largest Scratcher game with the top prize of $20 million was unveiled by this week by the California Lottery.
The “Set for Life Millionaire Edition” game glitters like gold and shines like a diamond, but lucky winners will not become millionaires instantly.
The grand prize would be paid out annually through $800,00 installments over the span of 25 years
According to a news release from the state Lottery, the game offers a new high by $10 million.
The game currently costs more than other Scratchers on the market, priced at $30, and the odds of winning four grand prizes valued up to $20 million is 1 in 3,019,380, according to the Lottery’s website.
“Our team is always looking closely at what’s popular among players so we can offer new and exciting ways for Californians to have a little fun and also support our mission, which is to raise extra money for public schools,” state Lottery Director Alva V. Johnson said in the release.
The California Lottery introduced three other new Scratchers this week, and since Jan.1, 14 people have become millionaires through the state Lottery, officials announced in a tweet.
In late January, the state Lottery announced that a $426 million lottery ticket was sold to an unidentified individual in a gas station at Woodland Hills, California.
According to a news release, the winning numbers were 3-16-25-44-55, and the Mega Ball number was 13. It was the third jackpot ticket sold in California since the new year, the state Lottery wrote in the release, though it is the first Mega Millions jackpot win since October.
About $40 million from ticket sales are allocated toward California public schools, according to the state Lottery.
"It's always exciting when we have a winning ticket with such a big jackpot in California," said Alva V. Johnson, director of the California State Lottery in a news release. "Raising money for education is why the Lottery exists in the first place, and we take a lot of pride in that."
