Rain and thunderstorms were expected to develop today over San Diego County for most of the region, with the peak of the precipitation falling late this afternoon through this evening, the National Weather Service said.
A flood watch was in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday to late Saturday for San Diego County deserts and mountains.
Saturday evening's Game 3 of the National League Division Series between the Padres and Dodgers at Petco Park could get some rain, forecasters told City News Service, but any thunderstorms should remain well north of downtown San Diego. The game starts at 6:07 p.m.
It was another morning of a very deep marine layer west of the mountains, with drizzle reported at many locations Saturday. A few locations along the coastal slopes of the mountains recorded up to one-quarter inch of precipitation overnight.
High temperatures along the coast Saturday were predicted to be in the upper 60s with overnight lows in the lower 60s. Highs in the valleys were expected to be in the upper 60s with lows in the upper 50s. Highs in the mountains were expected to be in the mid-60s with lows in the lower 50s and highs in the deserts were predicted to be in the mid-80s with lows in the mid- 60s.
Rain was predicted to taper off later Saturday night, though a few storms may occur over the mountains Sunday afternoon. Dry and warmer conditions were in store for much of next week.
Sunday was looking to be a dry day for most areas. There was a chance of showers and thunderstorms over the coastal waters and at the beaches through Sunday morning with cloud-to-ground lightning possible with heavy rain and gusty winds.
Another low pressure system could drop south near Southern California toward the end of next week, potentially bringing more showers and thunderstorms to the region.
